Weekend Trip

One of Brenda's Granny quilts.
Go over to Valerie's blog to see the Granny quilt stories.

The Farm

I had a wonderful trip to see my daughter, Brenda in the Nashville, TN area. It was a gorgeous time to travel. The leaves were so pretty on the mountains on the way up and back. Brenda and I had a great weekend. She had homemade soup made for me when I got there, and did I enjoy that!
These are a few pictures of her lovely home. She has it up for sale, along with 20 beautiful acres of land, much of it undeveloped which has lots of timber, a pond, and a creek.
Brenda bought a sewing machine while I was there and is learning to sew. I was so proud of that.

Feather, their horse.

Feeding Feather her favorite food, an apple!

This is where their Cocker Spaniel is buried.  He lived 15 years and was a dear companion.

Just a few or Rob's trophies from Karate.

We had a very wonderful visit!  Thanks, Brenda and Rob for your great hospitality!

My Obsession with Books

I am a person who would rather read a good book than see a good movie!  I have gotten to the point, though, where the books are taking over the house!  When I see a good review of a book by a friend, or an author interviewed about something they wrote that appeals to me, I cannot help myself, I buy it!
Mostly, my books are Christian related, but I like all kinds of clean novels, romantic, or otherwise.  I have many books about the Civil War battles and their generals, and many many health related books.
My latest finds are two that were recommended by our wonderful blogging friend, Karen Dianne Lee.  I have not read these yet, but I am looking forward to doing so.

Then there are my many garden books and cookbooks, below are just two of my favorites.  (The Paula Deen one is personally autographed by Paula!)

I could go on and on about the books I love .............Of course, my Mama's Bible is in use every day!

Trip to Apple Country!

My sister (L) and our friend (R)

This past week I took a few days off to get my vacation days taken before the end of the year.  On one of the days, I took my sister and a friend of ours over to Ellijay to Apple Country.
On the way, we stopped at the top of the mountain and took pictures.  It was so beautiful over there.  We were about ready to get into the car and leave, when a pickup truck came barreling down the mountain, and turned around quickly and parked in front of my car.  I told the ladies, "Let's get in the car!".  They were in that car so fast and so was I that by the time the guy got out of his truck we were in our car and locked up.  Our imaginations ran wild when we were trying to figure out why a lone man turned his truck around when he saw us and parked in front of my car.  Was he there just to enjoy the scenery like we were, or did he have something else in mind, like steal a purse or something?  Why did he turn around from the direction he was going and come back?  Why did he park directly in front of my car?  It just made us all alert to our safety and we drove out of there as he stared at us.  It is so sad that this day and time we have to be afraid of everything and everyone.  Crime is so bad.  There was no traffic hardly at all across the mountain that day, so we felt like we had the mountain to ourselves until he showed up.  He might have been totally innocent,,,............or not.  We did not wait to see.

Anyway, we went on over to the Apple Barn and loaded up on all kinds of apples, dried apples and fried apple pies.  A stop back on the way home for lunch and back home.  It was a very good and relaxing day.

Quilt Show in Blairsville, GA

Selected blocks from a full size quilt that I loved!

Yesterday, my daughter, Valerie and I drove over to the North Georgia mountains to Blairsville, GA to a quilt show.  We had such  a great time together!  The quilts in the show were just gorgeous!
I bid on one little landscape wall hanging, and they called me and told me that I won it in a silent auction!  They will mail it to me, as the quilt show announced the winners today, and I could not get back over there today.
We were so happy to meet a fellow blogger there who is a quilter.  Dot recognized Valerie and me and came up and introduced herself.  We were so happy to meet her.   Below is a picture of Dot and me at the show.  Go over and visit Dot at her blog, asouthernquiltersjoy.blogspot.com!

There were a lot of quilt entries in the show.  Some of my very favorites were the landscape wall hangings that were in most, made from snapshots of the quilter's favorite picture of their favorite places, people, and pets.

These are only a very few of the quilts on display.  I am afraid I was so intrigued with looking at the quilts that sometimes I forgot to make pictures!  Of course, Valerie got many more pictures than I did, so she will be showing a lot more on her next blog.

When You Have Hope All Things Are Possible!

When You Have Hope All Things are Possible!  That is the saying on the back of the t-shirt that was given to me when I went for my annual mammogram yesterday!
I hate to get that done, but it is a necessary thing for all women to have done.  The place I go to is the best one that I have ever gone to, as their equipment is very updated, and the staff is so nice and kind.
I can't say enough about the need that all women should do this religiously for their health's sake, so if anything is wrong there is time to get help.  All of mine, so far, have been good, but I do know people whose breast cancer was caught early enough to get help and have been cured.
Afterward, I celebrated by going to Panera Bread for breakfast.  It was an interesting experience.  I was alone at a table, and near me were four men having breakfast, and I could not help but overhear their conversation.  Of course, there was talk of football, as is usual among men, but then their conversation turned to Christian values and Bible studies.  I was so encouraged by their attitudes of trying to live right and do everything right.
The news sometimes will make you believe that there is no one any more hardly that believes in Christian values, but my faith in people was restored yesterday.
