Happy Birthday Brenda and Week of Reading

Happy birthday to my beautiful daughter, Brenda! She is a joy in my life, and she is, as are all my daughters, my best friend! We have so much enjoyment together. We like many of the same things, and one thing we have always shared is books, and discussions of the books we love to read. I am so excited because she is coming down to visit her family this weekend and while she is here, we will celebrate her birthday with family by going out to eat together. I love her so very much! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRENDA, MY SWEET DAUGHTER!

This week has been a full week of reading books! When I was in high school, I would stop by the public library and check out books to read. My Mom wanted to know what I was reading all the time, and made me leave some books with her to look over. She wanted to be sure that I was reading books that were clean. I had discovered books in those days so long ago of Grace Livingston Hill. Ms. Hill wrote books that were mostly placed in the time frame of the early 1900's and I found them to be so interesting. Needless to say, my Mom fell in love with her writing and read every book that Ms. Hill wrote. In her latter days, she started collecting all the books. She wanted to own them. Someone else in the family ended up with those books, so I have been trying to find some of them. Of course, they are all out of print, as far as I know. But I did find several that were 3 books in one, paperback at yard sales. So this week I was in the mood to read the really old time books with the old time ways, and romantic stories. I read four of those books, then went on to Francine Rivers books, (one of my very favorite authors now). I read Leota's Garden this week also. It is hard to get much done when all you do is sit on the front porch with a nice cup of coffee after work and read. But, needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my week. (OK, I know I should have been sewing, but it was my book week! LOL) I have most all of Francine's books in my library. My very favorite of her books so far are Redeeming Love, and Comes the Dawn, (a three book series). Leota's Garden was very touching, also.

Look what was blooming in my yard this morning! My lovely Hibiscus!

Have a great weekend!
