My Obsession with Books

I am a person who would rather read a good book than see a good movie!  I have gotten to the point, though, where the books are taking over the house!  When I see a good review of a book by a friend, or an author interviewed about something they wrote that appeals to me, I cannot help myself, I buy it!
Mostly, my books are Christian related, but I like all kinds of clean novels, romantic, or otherwise.  I have many books about the Civil War battles and their generals, and many many health related books.
My latest finds are two that were recommended by our wonderful blogging friend, Karen Dianne Lee.  I have not read these yet, but I am looking forward to doing so.

Then there are my many garden books and cookbooks, below are just two of my favorites.  (The Paula Deen one is personally autographed by Paula!)

I could go on and on about the books I love .............Of course, my Mama's Bible is in use every day!

Oh Mom, I hope I grow up to be just like you. Oh yes, I am already grown up....oh no! I am almost 55 years old. I want to be a reader so bad. Well I do read blogs - does that count? Your pictures are great! I LOVED seeing Grandma's Bible on here. Tell us more about her....please!!!!

My husband is the reader in my family and the books have overtaken one side of the house. Of course, the fabric has taken over the other so it works well.

I always enjoyed reading good clean mysteries and cookbooks to Mama. I did not know you liked Civil War books. I have a blog friend in Australia who makes authentic Civil War quilts. I have my Mama's mother's Bible that I treasure too.

We have always enjoyed books in our house too. My children love to read and I am a Jane Austen fan! I love Pride and Prejudice. But my favorite stories all come from the Bible. I love to read about Joseph and Esther, and mostly about our Lord.

I love to read also. Books in the bookcases, on the night stand, on the coffee table, on the side table and today also on the dining room table. Those are waiting to be returned to a friend who is on a trip. A couple friends and I swap books and that helps keep the costs down. Right now I'm reading Saving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan. Waiting to be read is Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult and Say You're One of Them by Uwem Akpan (an Oprah choice).

I love books too...they give you the opportunity to travel the world and go on any adventure you like! My 10 year old son is a huge reader...he'd take a book over any toy anytime!

I am a reader too. I can spend hours in a good book. I like to read when we are traveling too as it makes the flight go faster. Reading is wonderful!!!!

I love this post. You know, Civil War books are fascinating to me since I didn't learn about it in school - growing up out West and all, they didn't teach it really.

One of my quilts refers to Ms. McGavock (I think I have that right) who is in the book "Widow of the South" so there's a lot of truth there. THAT book was my first Civil War novel. I learned so much!

Am I to understand you actually met Paula Deen? Wow!!!

...and of course The Bible. Who doesn't have a Bible?
