Amaryllis Bulb

During the Christmas shopping, two of my daughters (Brenda and Karen) and I found some Amaryllis Bulbs on sale at Target for $7!  Of course, none of us could pass this up.  This was one of my Mother's favorite gifts at Christmas time and she nearly always received one as a gift.  Her favorite was the red one, so that is what I bought for myself.  My Mom loved to watch it grow.  I have this idea that I will measure it's growth to see how fast it grows until it is in full bloom.
I have had it in the pot for a few days, and day before yesterday I decided to start measuring it.  (It was already trying to burst out of the bulb when I finally took the time to put it into the pot.)

I am going to put it on my side bar at least weekly to let you see how fast it grows!  I love it!

Day before yesterday, (12/28) my first measurement was 4 1/4 inches.  Today, 5 inches!

They simply amaze me at how quickly they grow. I just put last years bulb in the pot two weeks ago and it is already over a foot tall. I love them too. Thank heavens all plants don't grow so fast.

I love this idea! I should go get one. But I don't have a very green thumb. But I'd like to try.

They do jump don't they!! Love it!!
I did not do any bulbs this year and miss them.
May have to go see if Lowe's has any leftovers still out..;-)
Now you can plant them in the flower beds too and they will come back every year...just lose color a bit. Mine are by my front steps and I love seeing them every year.
Happy New Year!!

Oh, I love them too. Mine isn't growing very fast. It is very short and 2 flowers are beginning to open. Well, maybe this year I won't have to prop it up and worry that it will topple over!

The flower is so spectacular and really appreciated during our gray winter days!
